Dr Chia-Ying (Annie) Yang is a Lecturer in Language Education at the University of Edinburgh, where she obtained her MSc in Applied Linguistics, MScR in Linguistics, and Ph.D. in Education. Her research in the field of sociolinguistics in education specialises in language maintenance. She adopts a transdisciplinary approach in her research, encompassing topics such as language attitudes, identity, language policy, decolonisation, pluriliteracies, discourse analysis, mental well-being, and language maintenance through art. She is the Course Organiser for Languages, Society and Education, and Text, Discourse and Language Teaching. Currently, Dr Yang serves as the Programme Director for the MSc in Language Education.
