Using observational datasets and mathematical models of varying complexity, he is interested in investigating the physical mechanisms that maintain the climate and drive its temporal and spatial variations. His current research foci are (1) tracking weather and climate extremes from an event perspective, (2) probabilistic event attribution on anthropogenic effects on changes in weather and climate extremes, and (3) the dynamical and statistical downscaling of regional future climate change projections.
